HOW TO PLAY
YOUR CHARACTERS' MOVEMENT
You can move character up to twelve squares and not attack or you can move your character six squares and attack once. Your characters can't move through walls. Walls are black and outlined in a red-ish purple color. It costs two movement points to go diagonal. Also moving through squares outlined in green or yellow cost twice the normal amount of movement points normal squares cost.
Attacking

Let's say, for example, Maris Brood moves six squares and wants to attack Devaronian Bounty Hunter.
First, we look at Maris Brood's attack, which is +9. Second we look at Devaronian Bounty Hunter's defense, which is 15. To hit Devaronian Bounty Hunter, Maris Brood will have to roll a 6 or better because you always have to get at least their defense number when you add up what you rolled and your attack. Also because Maris Brood has twin attack (an ability that doubles your attacks) she can attack twice.Whenever you roll you roll a twenty-sided die. Let's say Maris Brood rolls a 1 for her first attack. Whenever a 1 is rolled it instantly misses. Next, Maris Brood rolls a 20. A 20 is called a crit or critical hit. A critical hit instantly hits and does double damage. To find out how much damage was dealt to a character you look at the attacker's damage. Maris Brood's damage is 20. Since she rolled a 1 for her first attack she didn't get any damage dealt from that attack. The second attack was a 20, so it automatically hit for double damage.
0 (from the first attack)
+ 40 (from the second attack)
40 damage dealt
Then you subtract the damage dealt from the hit points (your health) to get the amount of life you have left. You can put damage counters on the characters, but you can only get them (to my knowledge) in a starter pack. When you subtract the 40 damage from
Devaronian Bounty Hunter's hit points you get -10, which means he dies.

If you have a guy with bodyguard next to one of your people he can take the damage instead, which would have saved Devaronian Bounty Hunter.
